How to Get Real Estate Salesperson License in Yukon

 
yukon real estate licenseDue to the lack of online information on how to become licensed in Yukon, we can only dig through the Real Estate Licensing Act and was able to uncover some information below:

“A salesperson may only be licensed if
they are the salesperson of a licensed agent

A person is not eligible to be licensed
unless
(a) in the case of an individual, that person
(i) has reached the age of 19 years,
(ii) has the prescribed qualifications, and
(iii) has a permanent residence in the
Yukon and has been a resident for a
period of not less than three months
before the application”

We have also contacted Yukon community services department by email and will see if they can provide further information pertaining to the educational and licensing requirements. We will update this page as soon as we get an answer.

Update on July 05 2013

We have received a reply from the Yukon Community Services Department with more information on Real Estate Licensing requirements in Yukon and it is as follow:

“The following are licensing requirements for a Real Estate Agent and Real Estate Salesperson in Yukon.

Applicants must comply with requirements as outlined in the Real Estate Agents’ Licensing Regulations.

Agent requirements:

  • have attained the age of 19 years,
  • can read, write and has a good working knowledge of the English language,
  • maintains their permanent residence in Yukon and have been a resident for a period of not less than three months immediately prior to the date of application,
  • be of good character, and
  • has been licensed as a salesperson in Yukon for at least one year immediately prior to submitting the application.

Salesperson requirements:

  • have attained the age of 19 years,
  • can read, write and has a good working knowledge of the English language,
  • maintains their permanent residence in Yukon and have been a resident for a period of not less than three months immediately prior to the date of application,
  • be of good character,
  • has successfully completed the prescribed University of British Columbia

Real Estate Trading Services Licensing Course (formerly the Real Estate Salesperson’s and Sub-Mortgage Broker’s Pre-Licensing Course) or has successfully written the examination established for this course, and

  • has successfully written the Yukon Real Estate examination. A study manual is available for $30 from Consumer Services. When you are ready please phone the Licensing Officer at
    667-5111 to make an appointment for writing the Yukon Real Estate exam.

Applicants will need to complete the appropriate application form and submit the required licensing fees.”

Course and Licensing fees

The Real Estate Trading Services Licensing Course is about $1075 + tax minimum.

The Residential Trading Services Applied Practice Course or the Commercial Trading Services Applied Practice Course is $675 plus tax each.
